Jason Prescott has passed away. He died Saturday morning. Sadly, he took his own life, but the how's and why's don't really matter.
Please pray for Ruthie and her family.
He was a remarkable young man, our voice of reason, and our dear, dear friend.

My prayers go to Ruthie in this terrible time of sadness and loss.
Only God will be able to fully understand what drove him and will forgive him. Jason will be embraced by HIM and accepted into HIS house forever.
So sorry to hear this.

OMG...I'm so shocked. Jay & Ruthie are such wonderful people. Have been very active in their church, especially after it was destroyed by a fire a few years ago and I know Ruthie has traveled overseas in mission work. My prayers are going for her and the family. No one knows what causes the brain to just snap but I'm praying for God's grace & understanding for Jay and strenght for Ruthie.

When I read this on facebook--post by Ruthi, I was so shocked. I don't know what made things so bad that Jayger decided to take his own life but it really doesn't matter. What matters is we've lost a good friend. I know that for a lot of years he made me laugh myself silly when we were posting on line. When he & Ruthi met and got together they were both so happy and I believe better for it. Whatever the reasons I hope he is at Peace now and my thoughts and prayers are with Ruthi for sure and the children left behind. We'll miss you Jayger.

Lainie thank you for posting this here for us. I just read about it on FaceBook. I got to meet Ruthie & Jason (Jaysv) at Bristol one year and they were such a special and delightful couple. I am in shock. Prayers for Ruthie and her family. And may God give her the strength to get through this terrible time.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 am in The Memorial Baptist Church, by his current and former pastors. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
A native of Greenville, Jason was a graduate of J.H. Rose High School. He received a BSBA degree in accounting from Appalachian State University in 1991 and became a CPA in 1994. He began his accounting career at Overton’s, Inc., in 1991. In 1993, Jason joined C. Eugene Prescott, CPA, his father’s firm, where he later became a partner. A life-long member of The Memorial Baptist Church, Jason served in various capacities including the Diaconate, the Royal Ambassadors, the Technology Committee, the Financial Review Committee, and the Stewardship Committee. He was currently serving as an active member of the Administrative Deacons, the Audio Visual Task Force, and the Finance Team, to which he dedicated much of his time and energy and was its incoming Chair for 2010. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief efforts.
Jason was an avid NASCAR fan, who along with his wife Ruthi developed many meaningful friendships with fellow fans around the country. He also enjoyed biking, church league softball, and water sports at the family’s cottage at Bath.

I thought I'd post this here for those of you who don't go to the J.R. board. It's a recap of Frannie's visit to Ruthie last night--
Coz covered the bulk of everything. I signed the guest book as "Fran Hollis & the Just Racin' Family".
Every single family member I spoke to was so glad that the racing family was represented... honestly. Ruthi's Mom is a doll, and we had a couple of good chuckles.
Jordan's Mom was very nice, and Jordan just lit up when he found out I was part of the racing crew. He also never left his mother's side. Jay would be very proud.
As Coz said, Ruthi spotted me while I was talking to Jordan. Remember, Ruthi has never met me. I looked up and she was staring at me, eyes big as saucers and her mouth hanging open (yeah, I get this response every where I go... I am drop dead gorgeous you know)... I gave a little wink, and she squeaked "Franny!" and we created a scene. She started to sob, I started to sob (again), I told her to hush because I had to recite a lot of names... she said she'd been to the board last night and was just overwhelmed with the love and support. She's doing ok. She is. She seems more resigned to the "it is what it is" mantra (a la Mike Helton) but has a handle on things, and will be ok. It'll take a while, but she'll be ok. She was concerned about my driving home tonight, and tried (several times) to get me to stay with her, but I declined. She needs her rest, and we'll have time for a get together so we can stay up all crazy hours and talk forever.
Tomorrow will be rough, and the weather is going to make it more so. Nothing like cold and rainy on the day you bury your husband.
Oh, and it was open casket. I don't do open caskets, but from my quick glance, Jay looked good.
This was my first time to any funeral home since making arrangements for my Mom in June, and after hyperventilating in the parking lot before going in, it was good.
The funeral director let me change into "driving home clothes" in the employee lounge, and after a brief stop at DQ, I'm home, and almost ready to crash.
What was said above... it's all true. If this doesn't make people realize that "life long grudges" over this driver or that is a bunch of bullchit, then nothing will.
Life is too short. And you never know. You just simply never know. Stanton believes in living life to the fullest, every day. I'm starting to understand this mantra, and he's not as crazy as he seems.
Well, he is that crazy, but in this, he knows what he's talking about. I'm going to try to emulate him.

Oh no, my heart is broken. My heart felt prayers go out to Ruthi and Jaygers family. He was always so nice to me and others at JR. I know we will all miss him. God be with you, Ruthi. We love you.
